I would like to introduce you to the newest member to Pets In Need, Katy Brookes. She couldn’t have come at a better time. I was at PetsMart one day last fall and a young woman walked up to me, and asked me if I was with Pets In Need. I said yes. Katy informed me of her future goals to operate a shelter. We spoke for sometime before coming back to the office where I introduced her to my husband, Rudy. We spoke some more of the shelter, the ups, the downs, and where we are today.

My office was in need of some organizing. Katy offered to come in and help out. She began coming to PetsMart with me, and it wasn’t too much later when Rudy and I decided we wanted to hire her. Katy’s dedication to organizing the shelter’s office has been remarkable. Her devotion to the animals is exceptional. Her drive to get things done is impeccable. And her ability to multi-task is way above average. She is a fine asset.

Here she is pictured with some of our dogs. She is great with the special needs dogs. She has come to the rescue several times, learning more and more as she goes, from seizures to iv drips, to potty training, adoption events, helping the local food pantry, and other fundraising efforts. Katy is a large part of Pets In Need joining the McHenry County Animal Welfare Coalition. She comes to us with non-profit experience and a degree in business management. Thank you God for putting Katy in our path.
